The club was originally formed in 1982, by Peter Turner and Alan Hayden. It was originally called Woodchats, the younger teams were called Woodpeckers. The intention was that the boys could enjoy playing football for fun and parents could feel part of the friendly atmosphere.
We've tried to continue these traditions and have earned a reputation for being a friendly club whose teams are known for their good football and more importantly their sportsman like behaviour both on and off the field.Benfleet Villa FC is affiliated to the Essex County FA and is a member of the Castle Point Sports Council. The club now hold the FA status of Football Association Chartered Standard Development Club.
